Il testo come ipotesi (critica del manoscritto-base)

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2011
abstract:
The majority of the most recent critical editions of Romance texts consists in the transcription of a base-manuscript that undergoes a "examination", in other words a various number of corrections. This pseudo-Bédierist compromise produces texts that are neither the faithful and synchronic reproduction of a single witness nor the reconstruction of a former stage of the textual tradition (ex. from French Prose Romances: Tristan, Queste del Saint Graal, Mort Artu). Recovering a full awareness of the hypothetical nature of the critical text implies a rethinking of text-editing protocols, in order to overcome the concept of conservation of the single manuscript's presumed "reality" and to give full consideration to the diachronic aspects of text trasmission (ex. from the Guiron le courtois project).
