abstract:
It is time to say that the study of medieval manuscripts as objects (synchrony) more than as witnesses of a textual tradition (diachrony) leads to a weakness of the philological approach face to the fragmentation of medieval culture. If we don't want to follow the main stream of european cultural politics, viewing the manuscripts only in their value as "cultural heritage", we should foster a methodological issue that emphasize anachronism as an achievement of modern storiography.
