Indolacetic acid production from olive oil waste water by Arthrobacter spp.

Academic Article
Publication Date:
1990
abstract:
Olive oil waste water has been assayed as a start material to produce microbial auxins. Four strains of Arthrobacter (A. globiformis NCIB8602, A. viscosus NBIC9728, A. fluorescens DSM3680, A.giacomelloi DSM3681) have been texted. Among these, only A. giacomelloi and A. viscosus are been shown to be suitable for IAA production. Tryptophan addition stimulated microbial biomass, at the time greatly enhancing IAA biosynthesis. The phenol concentration was a limiting factor for biomass production. During their growth, all microbial strains strongly reduced phenol content in the cultural medium.
