Abstract:
A new approach to the synthesis of the cytotoxic marine sesterterpenoid (-)-12-deacetoxyscalaradial (1) is described. The starting product has been the methyl 18 alpha H-scalar-16-en-19-oate (2), obtained according to a known procedure from manool (4).
