Il rilievo archeologico a Shawbak. Un uso combinato di misura e documentazione archeologica.

Investigation, like interpretation of the real world, must be directed at a specific objec-tive. The set of instruments presented pro-vides, through photogrammetry and GPS. a complete graphic production, from point clouds to GIS (Geogrophical Information System) software two-dimensional representa¬tion, of archaeological objects on different scales (site, architectural complex, individual buildings, stratigraphic units). The work carried out at Shawbak uses a group of instruments for photogrammetric surveying applied to archaeological docu¬mentation, characterized by a high level of in-tegration between graphic and non-graphic data (stratigraphic and qualitative information, multimedia elements, notes of various kinds). Archaeology, in fact, due to its traditional sta¬tus of boundary discipline between the natu¬ral and the human sciences, represents an exceptionally interesting field of study for the development of models and instruments for managing data of different kinds.
