abstract:
This brief report describes the results of our recent studies carried out to evaluate the use of liposomes in capillary electrophoresis of peptides and proteins, acting as additive or as a dispensed pseudo-stationary phase with the capability of improving efficiency, selectivity and resolution. The report describes the results of our studies conducted with unilamellar liposome suspensions consisting of the phospholipid 1-palmitoyl-2-oleyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (POPC), which is prepared by an extrusion technique. The report describes the different strategies that have been employed for allowing the liposomes to act as a pseudo-stationary phase with the ability of modulating selectivity, resolution and separation performance of peptides and proteins in bare fused silica capillaries.
