Abstract:
The design of dust explosion venting and suppression systems requires the knowledge and then the evaluation of the thermo-kinetic parameters as the deflagration index (Ks1) and the maximum attainable pressure (Pmax), by standardized experiments. However, during industriai processes dusts may undergo structural changes which affect their hazard. In order to fully characterize the risk linked to their handling, the evaluation of the explosion parameters should be then evaluated keeping into account these effects .
In the present work, we performed an experimental study for the explosion of severa! com-starch samples obtained by different drying processes generally employed in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
