abstract:
Emerging contaminants are becoming very common in the irrigation water. A contaminant class very diffuse in the waters of developed countries is that of perfluorinated, substances chemically very stable and dangerous for the human health. In this research we have decided to see if the rice, plant closely linked to water in all stages of growth, is able to absorb these products. The results highlight that the perfluorinated are absorbed by the root and translocated into aboveground part largely through passive mechanisms. During the experiments we also showed a bactericidal activity mediated by perfluorinated compounds that could be able to adversely affect on the soil microflora arrangement.
