abstract:
The river could be considered a very significant element within the reconstruction of the "territorialisation" process. The rivers, which throughout the centuries have guaranteed the existence of numerous communities and the development of many activities, underwent major changes associated with their exploitation and control. In fact, while the rivers represented a vital resource, at the same time they also exerted a "destructive" role. In this context, this paper aims at analysing the territorialisation action applied by the community of Tivoli, in order to promote projects of hydraulic arrangements, which were addressed to the water regulation of the Aniene river, from XVI to XIX century.
