abstract:
Changes induced by Gibberellic acid, Fusicoccin and Gibberellic acid-Fusicoccin treatments on the biosynthesis of cell-wall polysaccharides during elongation growth in lettuce hypocotyl sections have been reported. Since all surgars form the main components of cell-wall pectic polysaccharides, we suggest that variations in the synthesis of L-rhamnosyl, D-galacturonosyl, L-arabinosyl and D-galactosyl residues may play a dominant role in influencing the nature of elongation growth in lettuce hypocotyl secrions.
