Phase conjugation to recover from modal dispersion in propagation through fibers

We realize an optical phase-conjugating mirror by coupling a x((2)) nonlinear crystal, performing differencefrequency generation, with a plane mirror. We use the device to recover the wavefronts upon transmission through multimode fibers and discuss the application to large-core amplifying fibers. (c) 2006 Optical Society of America.
