Valutazione di trend climatici in un area del versante ionico della Calabria

Over the last few years several local and national studies have shown a marked temporal variation in some of the principal meteorological and climatic variables such as precipitation and temperature. Knowing these variations is paramount in order to establish, for example, the effects of precipitation variability on the availability of water resources, for land planning and human activities. The present work illustrates the analyses referring to the pluviometric and thermometric historical series registered in Calabria from 1916 to 2000 over an area between the Trionto river and Neto river basins, on the Central Ionian side of Calabria. The application of some simple tests evidenced significant negative trends in the yearly and in the autumn-winter precipitations. An opposite trend seems to be present for the summer precipitation, as literature applications have demonstrated for other Mediterranean areas.
