abstract:
Academics have often used historical cartography as a prime source to attest the building and presence of coastal defence towers in Sardinia, and more in general to date these structures. This study intends to propose a reinterpretation of some of the existing cartographical documents and to focus on the limits of the "objective" value of documents of spatial descriptions. Maps are often images of a given territory, but in the case of coastal towers, they can represent the mere picture of a territorial project.
