abstract:
the research project SNeCS has the general objective of gathering and communicating artistic, archaeological, literary, historical and philosophical content in the territory of Regione Campania (the Campania region municipality), with an emphasis on historic city centers, activating and realizing new strategies for its representation, organization, dissemination and promotion based on paradigms of technological intelligence. The project has already achieved most of its predetermined goals. experts from the humanities field have gathered and catalogued tangible and intangible knowledge. Together with information technology experts, the information collected has been organized in accordance with an ontological model. on top of this 'integrated knowledge', a flexible system has been built that allow experts and interested users to navigate across multiple layers of information made coherent over several domains, such as architecture, iconography, urban decay, city planning, literature, craftsmanship, stratigraphy and restoration. Among the project dissemination activities, Castel Nuovo has played a central role. It has become the cornerstone of most of the experimental activities, a place where technologies have been applied to build the integrated knowledge needed to promote and preserve the site itself, but also to connect it with the most important heritage sites in the Campania region.
