abstract:
The heating-induced crystallization process of Mg-Ni-Fe amorphous alloys was studied by anelastic spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry in the temperature range 100-500 K. The crystallization is obtained through several progressive non-reversible steps, detected by changes in the Young's modulus and concomitant irreversible peaks in the elastic energy loss curve. A systematic study of the anelastic spectrum measured on samples at different crystallization steps was carried out. Moreover, a non-thermally activated anelastic peak was observed at 215 K which is attributed to a dynamical process connected to the simultaneous presence of different phases.
