abstract:
The essay investigate the history of the first Dominican community in the city of Barletta between the end of the 13th and the 15th centuries. Through the study of edited sources emerges the life of a female community able to relate to the city's reality through a political cowardship of relationships with the urban patriziate and a careful acquisition and management strategy of goods. On the artistic level, the evidences conserved, in particular a cycle of late-gotich frescoes show in the choice of iconographic themes and in the adoption of models a culmination of the Paladina de Riso belonging to one of the most visible families of nobility of Barletta.
