La caratterizzazione microclimatica dell'azienda Fattoria di Poggio Casciano

Academic Article
Publication Date:
2000
abstract:
This research was performed with the aim of zoning a small hilly area (about 120 ha), located in the territory of Chianti Colli Fiorentini. The activity started in 1995 when a network of 28 weather stations was installed to characterise the variability of thermal pattern among the main vineyards. Data collected during 1996-1998 were used to calculate several climatic indexes, such as Winkler, Huglin, and the summation of the daily range of temperature. To improve the practical application of the obtained results, thematic maps were elaborated on the basis of the most suitable spatialization procedures. The bioclimatic characterisation was completed determining an index of the relative risk of frost. The obtained detailed information allowed to point out the wide range of variability existing in the different areas of viticultural farm. These results can be applied to support decision making of vine-growers, with the aim of reaching the quality and quantity objectives of grapevine production
