Retained and discarded crustaceans decapoda from trawl fishery catches in the Central Mediterranean Sea

The economic importance of the bottom trawl fishery and the issue to reduce the catch of non target species and undersize individuals of the target species has in these last years stimulated research in order to take management measures that minimize the negative the impact of fishing. In order to determine the retained and discarded catches in the central Mediterranean sea a survey was conducted in the Strait of Sicily during spring 2001.
