abstract:
A potential flow model for seakeeping ship is presented. Nonlinear and linearized formulations are presented in a unified version suitable for time domain simulation. It is shown that dependence of hydrodynamic loads on (unknown) body acceleration can be factored out to make easier the coupling of the fluid dynamic solver with the equation of body motion. Sample solutions for a real ship are presented.
