abstract:
This chapter surveys some of the electromagnetic and echographic imaging techniques and applications of interest for biology and medicine. First, some fundamental parameters for cellular imaging are introduced as contrast mechanisms, resolution, and penetration depth. Second, the targeting strategies that are now emerging in molecular imaging using modern imaging scanners are reviewed. The last contribution deals with some basic image processing operations such as cells segmentation and counting and integration strategies used in low- and high-resolution imaging techniques.
