AMPLIAMENTO OTTIMALE DELLA RETE DI MONITORAGGIO PLUVIOMETRICA DEL CONSORZIO DI DIFESA DI PUGLIA

The scope of this paper is to provide a methodology for assessing the optimal localization of new monitoring stations within an existing rain gauge monitoring network with aim to widen it. The methodology uses geostatistic and probabilistic techniques combined with GIS instruments and could result extremely useful everywhere it is necessary to plan a widening of whatever existing environmental monitoring network. In the paper, such a methodology has been applied for designing the doubling of the rain gauge measuring network in the whole territory of the Apulia region
