abstract:
The Bay of Naples continental slope provides valuable information about relationships between the buried volcanic structures emplaced during the Late Quaternary activity of the Campania district, related magnetic anomalies and morphological expression of the structures at the sea bottom. Integrated geological interpretation of high resolution Multibeam bathymetric, magnetic and seismic data collected by the CNR-IAMC Institute onboard of the R/V Urania has been carried out. Well-developed magnetic anomaly fields are related to volcanic banks located near the shelf break and the Dohrn and Magnaghi canyons. High resolution bathymetric, magnetic and seismic data interpretation supported the relationships between morpho-structural lineaments and magnetic data fields.
