Preliminary list of the fish assemblage off the coast between Isola delle Femmine and Punta Barcarello (North-Western Sicily) according to underwater photos

The list of coastal fish in a high naturalistic value area, sited between Isola delle Femmine and Punta Barcarello (north-western Sicily), is reported. Information was collected during competitions of underwater photo-hunting. At least 77 species of bony fish were identified, being Labridae, Blennidae and Sparidae the most represented families. Amongst the photographed species, it is worth noting the presence of Parablennius pilicornis (Cuvier, 1829), Scartella cristata (Linnaeus, 1758), Scorpanea maderensis (Valenciennes, 1833) and Sparisoma cretense (Linnaeus, 1758).
