abstract:
The Red Sea immigrant fish species, Fistularia commersonii (Ruppel, 1835) (Fistularidae, Pisces), was reported for the first time in the Strait of Sicily.
The specimen was fished on November 12th 2002 at about 45 nm southward Lampedusa Island on 40-60 m depth bottoms. This finding is a further step in the process of the exotic fish colonization in the Mediterranean and emphasizes the importance of the Strait of Sicily in observing the variation of the bio-geographical distribution of species.
