abstract:
The temperature dependence of the growth of cadmium selenide (CdSe) films prepared by galvanostatic electrodeposition in an aqueous acidic bath was examined. We observed a growth mode change at around 50 degrees C, below which the growth rate is reaction rate limited and above which it is transport limited. Growth below 50 degrees C deviates from conventional laws of electrolysis and results in Se-rich 'cauliflower' films. At increased temperatures, the films show irregular growth but improved stoichiometry. (c) 2007 The Electrochemical Society.
