LUMINESCENT LINEAR POLYSTYRENE WITH PENDING PERYLENE DIIMIDES: SYNTHESIS AND APPLICATION IN WHITE HYBRID LEDS

Conference Paper
Publication Date:
2016
abstract:
Perylene diimides (PDIs) are organic dyes which combine strong fluorescence quantum in diluted solution with high photochemical stability. Typically, they are characterized by strong ?-? interactions which consistently decrease their solid state PL efficiency, and thus their application as light emitters [1]. We have developed a polystyrene decorated with randomly distributed pendants of perylene diimide, where the aggregation caused quenching processes are efficiently suppressed. We propose the development of stable white emitting devices prepared by the proper combination of this red emitting polymer, a suitable organic green emitter, and an inorganic commercial blue light source.
