Forest Fire

This contribution is focused on "forest fire," the term used in Europe to represent "an unwanted fire burning forests and wildlands" (Tedim et al. 2014) and thus referring to a European context of fires (e.g., regarding fuels) as opposed to the contributions on bushfires or wildfires. As a legal point of view, it is defined in France by: "a fire that has reached forests, heaths, garrigues or maquis with an area of at least 1 hectare in one piece (regardless of the area traveled)" (Jappiot et al. 2001).
