abstract:
The grain alignment was analyzed aver 24 plants coming from
the "Foresta Demaniale di Cadino" (state-owned forest of Cadino) in
Val di Fiemme (TN). Measures were taken considering the radial direction,
from the pith to the bark, and the whole height of the plant. Even
if the grain angles have a high variance, the general alignment within
the radial direction can be ascribable to the conifers scheme, that is
defined by a first part of left-hand grain (initial stages of the tree), followed
by a slope of the grain, from a left-hand to aright-hand spiral, at
maturity. A similar behavior has been noticed along the whole stem.
