Antropocene e agricoltura: il paradigma possibile dell'agroecologia

According to the latest theories, the Anthropocene, the geological epoch characterized by human activities, began in the 50s of the past century. At the same time, agriculture experienced a technological revolution without precedent in the history of humankind. It contributed to drive the permanent impacts and global changes of Anthropocene. The role of agriculture in the current environmental crisis is well known. The paper traces the evolution of agriculture from the Green Revolution to now, highlighting the most important trends. Then the authors describe the production system known as agroecology, suggesting the need to come out of the niche in which it is still relegated to become the new paradigm for future agriculture.
