Biomass production in alpine forestry

Since 2003 CNR-Ivalsa launched a vast research program aimed at testing the best available technologies to increase the efficiency of forest biomass harvestibg in the alpine area. This included the setting up of 20 experimental trials that covered 38 hectares of forest. the time studies (carried out at centiminute level) resulted in 1735 working hours, during which 1600 tons of chipped wood and 4000 cubic meters of timber were produced.
