Le miniere sarde: da luogo di lavoro a luogo della memoria e dell'identità. Il caso del Sarrabus-Gerrei
Academic Article
Publication Date:

abstract:
For about 8000 years Sardinia has developed an intense mining activity that has completely transformed the economy, the society and the territory. At the end of the 20th century, with the almost total closure of the mines on the island, a reflection on their possible recovery became necessary. The abandoned mines of Sardinia - in 1997 declared "World Heritage" by UNESCO and now belonging to the first "Historical and Environmental Geo-Mineral Park" of the world - are both a historical memory of the Sardinians and an available resource for the future generations.
