CMM: un modello comune di metadati per le risorse educative digitali

The CMM is based on LOM [IEEE, 2002] and is a prerequisite in the process of harvesting metadata from repositories inside and outside the consortium. It combines a subset of LOM elements - those considered relevant for Share.TEC purposes - with some project-specific elements pertinent to the domain of Teacher Education (TE); the vocabularies for these context-sensitive elements are derived from an ontology. The CMM is also the reference framework for deriving the series of language-and-culture dependent metadata schemata known collectively as the Multicultural Metadata Model - MMM. The Metadata Migration Facility, or MMF, has the task of automatically translating metadata from external respositories (based on DC, LOM etc.) to the CMM. It also informs personalised user services, especially RICK, the Resource Integration Companion Kit, that allows individual users to generate descriptions of their own digital content for aggregation in Share.TEC.
