A taxonomic revision of GIORDANI SOIKA's molluscs collection has raised some doubts about Abra alba determination. To facilitate identifying the Abra species in the lagoon of Venice, a dichotomous key was constructed from which it became apparent that Abra species determination requires further analysis of its shell shape and hinge structure. Analysis of both characters has highlighted that Abra specimens determined by GIORDANI SOIKA as A. alba correspond to A. segmentum and that morphological differences between A. segmentum and A. renierii probably express intraspecific variability.
