The «Varia» de Cancillería of the Ar-chivo de la Corona de Aragón in Bar-celona includes a register (number 435) entitled Componiment o talla indi-vidual de l'illa de Sardenya referida al any 1353, which contains a census re-corded in the ville of the fief held by a Gherardo Donoratico in January 1353. The document is examined within its context and discussed against the similar source of 1323 concerning the same territory as well as other contemporary documents. This comparative analysis affords a deeper understanding of the docu-ment and raises important questions. The paper provides a first report and palaeographic comment on the document.
