Struttura e attività della comunità microbica lungo il gradiente termoalino del Golfo di Manfredonia, Adriatico meridionale (Campagna SAMCA-3, maggio 2003)

The activity and abundance of microbial (eukaryotic phytoplankton and prokaryotic) community inhabiting the waters of the Manfredonia Gulf were studied to determine the possible effects played by the thermoaline gradient. Both the enzymatic hydrolysis and heterotrophic production processes showed the presence of three areas (coastal, off-shore, and transition) with different characteristics.
