abstract:
This paper critically reviews simple non-linear models based on the Masing Rules (Masing (1926) by comparison of the model predictions with the stress-strain curves obtained from monotonic and cyclic torsional shear test results on natural clays and reconstituted sands. Moreover, it is considered a model (Tatsuoka et al. 1993, Tatsuoka & Kohata 1995) which introduces some significant modifications of second Masing Rule and is capable of providing a more realistic representation of soil stress-strain shear relationships.
