abstract:
In the last decades, the landscape has gained a prominent place in several scientific sectors and pledged Europe in research projects, safeguard and valorization. Studies carried out show that, regardless of the read-disciplinary, from time to time, the landscape itself contains three essential characteristics: the objectivity of nature, the subjectivity of the observer and the historicity evolution. For this reason it is possible to discuss "literary landscape" only by placing, concretely, the phenomenon in a limited area and in a definite time. The study presented restricts the search of literary sources to the Basilicata region, in a period between 16th and 20th century, with the aim to identify, select and analyze poetry and/or prose, describing the geomorphological outlines of the landscape, as well as the specific locations mentioned by the authors. After an extensive investigation, for century and geographical area, the selection carried out by a reasoned reading of the texts. The comparison of the lists of georeferenced locations, for each author, allowed showing, graphically, the frequency of citation and their geographical distribution through the use of a GIS platform. Such a methodological approach, at the same time allowed to relate and to visualize the natural component of Lucan landscape with that sensorial, perceptual and experiential of authors, providing useful evaluation elements to define the natural and human-induced transformation of specific landscapes context, as it has evolved over time.
