Abstract:
Ground porcelain stoneware scraps have been recycled as a partially reactive filler in alkali bonded ceramic composites. Sandwich panels (30 cm x 30 cm x 5 cm) were prepared by varying the dimension and amount of scraps in the core and skins. Thethermalconductivityofthe
panels atroomtemperaturewas0.7Wm-1 K-1. Investigationsontheextentofcapillarywaterabsorptionandwaterreleaseindicatedthe
possibility toexploitthewaterretentionpropertiesofthebinderforcoolingbywaterevaporation
