Strapped Calix[2]furan[4]pyrroles, Novel Examples of Ditopic Molecular Receptors

The cyclocondensation of polyether chains functionalised with dipyrromethane units at both ends with 2,5-bis[(a-hydroxy-a,a-dimethyl)methyl]furan yield novel strapped calix[2]furan[4]pyrroles. These receptors were studied for their ability to act as ion-pair ligands towards fluoride salts.
