Abstract:
NiFe based electrocatalyst has been studied as a potential nano-sized critical raw materials (CRM)-free for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). NiFeOx/KB based electro-catalysts are reported to be highly active catalysts for the OER in alkaline electrolyte solutions. In this study, the electrochemical characteristics of two different compositions of NiFeOx/KB (i.e. Ni1Fe1 and Ni1Fe2) were evaluated under single cell configuration with a MEA having a Sustainion alkaline membrane and at condition similar to that of conventional applications. A raw current density of 650 mA cm-2 in 1M of KOH was obtained at 2 V and at 50°C. A durability test was carried out for 24h showing an increase of current for oxygen evolution with time. These achievements show that NiFeOx/KB is a promising OER catalyst for alkaline electrolysis.
