Modelling of Deep Trascranial Magnetic Stimulation: Electric Field Distributions Induced in a Realistic Human Model by Different Coil Designs

abstract:
This paper investigates the induced electric field distributions in a realistic human head model due to 16 coil configurations. We used the scalar potential finite element method differentiating the brain structures. We found that, despite the presence of a depth-focality tradeoff, some coils are able to reach subcortical white matter tracts at effective electric field level.
