abstract:
A study was conducted to demonstrate a modified method of hydroxyapatite (HA) synthesis for preparing composite nanocrystals containing alendronate. It was verified that the HA synthesis method in aqueous medium is carried out in the presence of alendronate, part of the product derived consisted of calcium alendronate. Alendronate content of the products was determined through spectroscopic analysis of the chromopheric complex with ironIII (FeIII) ions. It was found that hydroxyapatite synthesized in the absence of alendronate was stable without being converted into any other crystalline phase by heat treatment. The results of the study indicate that the amount of bisposhonate in the solid product increases, as a function of its concentration in solution.
