This paper provides information on the distribution and the ecology of five vascular plant taxa new to the Aeolian islands. Amaranthus viridis, Brachypodium stacei, Briza minor, Mercurialis annua subsp. ambigua and Ophioglossum lusitanicum with particular emphasis on this latter finding. Moreover, Nerium oleander and Onopordum horridum are confirmed for the archipelago and three other taxa are here reported for the first time for one/more island/s. Finally, a new plant association, named Rumici bucephalophori-Ophioglossetum lusitanici ass. nova, is described for the island of Vulcano.
