abstract:
Following Ceccato's papers, the path is traced which, starting from a radical criticism of the philosophy heritage, led to a description of the mind products in terms of constitutive activity. Linguistic convention was used to single out the mental items, together with the awareness of the personal activity in doing them. Few basic functions, hypothetically related to attention and memory, were employed to describe systematically our knowledge. Special importance was given to the elementary notions, and to the philosophically relevant ones. The previous criticism of the knowing process is always present as awareness that the constitutive activity of a mental item does not encompass the process by which this constitutive activity is produced.
