abstract:
The surface velocity field in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico is reconstructed from drifter trajectories collected as part of the Grand Lagrangian Deployment (GLAD) experiment in September 2012. The Lagrangian Variational Analysis (LAVA) approach is used; see Taillandier et al., 2006: A variational approach for the reconstruction of regional scale Eulerian velocity fields from Lagrangian data, Ocean Model., 13, 1-24. This dataset is restricted to shallow waters (north of 27N); a companion dataset (UDI: R1.x134.115:0003) focuses on deeper waters (south of 27N).
