Teramo project: toward the creation of a Virtual Heritage Network in urban and in cybernetic space

In May 2010 a new project aimed to the creation of a Virtual Heritage Network for the town of Teramo was opened to public. It was realized by the CNR- ITABC in collaboration with the Municipality of Teramo (a town located in Abruzzo region, in the middle Italy) and the California University of Merced, with the financial support of Arcus S.p.a. The project aims to the documentation, valorization, fruition of some of the most important archaeological remains of the town and of artifacts preserved in the Civic Archaeological Museum through the use of multimedia and virtual reality technologies. Starting from a common activity of research, data collection and elaboration, many outputs have been produced in order to support the cultural experience of the people visiting the town. The key concept of the project is identified in the multiplication of the virtual networks, contexts and contents in the urban space and within web virtual communities.
