In Toscana รจ stata accertata, su catalpa, la presenza di un agente oidico proveniente dal Nordamerica e in rapida diffusione in Europa. I primi sintomi compaiono sulle foglie che possono venire interamente ricoperte dal micelio biancastro. Si prevede un'ulteriore diffusione del patogeno. An unwanted landing The first appearance of Erysiphe elevata, a powdery rnildew agent on Catalpa bignonioides and C. bignonioides 'Nana' has been signalled in nurseries and public areas in Tuscany. The disease, originating from North America, was ascertained for the first tirne in Europe in 2002 in Hungary and is currently rapidly spreading in European countries. This pathogen invades the high and low side of leaves, as well as fruits, and begins showing in the lower parts of the crown.
