abstract:
For aquatic ecosystems, a specific assay to measure the toxicity caused by a suspected harmful compound in
plants has been developed (OECD Guideline 221), targeting biometric endpoints in Lemna sp. To provide a
more in-depth evaluation, other physiological and biochemical traits can be investigated with additional plant
material besides that used for biometric determination. ETPT measures in real time and in a nondestructive way
plant growth and the physiological state of the photosynthetic apparatus, providing a large number of indices
associated with toxicity endpoints linked to plant biometrics, physiology, and biochemistry.
