Our overall aim here is to discuss the hypothesis of astrocytes as non-neuronal elements that may contribute to generate and/or maintain on the one hand, the neuronal synchrony that could be physiologically relevant to information processing, and on the other, the hypersynchronous neuronal bursting that characterizes epileptic activities.
