Su un Eracle con leontè ed altri vasi configurati da Catania. Elementi di coroplastica greco-orientale

The article concerns a group of high quality East-Greek plastic vases. The iconography presents the Herakles' head covered with the leontè. The high quality and the limited number of specimens, all coming from the same mould (or from mould of the same generation), highlight the uniqueness of this production. Starting from a stylistic examination, the Author compares the head and the face of Herakles on these plastic vases with some bronze objects made in Samos and found on the island and in the Olympia sanctuary. The study allows the opportunity to reconstruct a still unknown aspect of the East-Greek artistic language, with particulr regard to Samos. This stylistic aspect is reconsidered into the multicultural context of the archaic island of Samos and of its important Hera sanctuary.
